MK5 & MK5 Pro Hill Pump

Frequently Asked Questions & Troubleshooting for the MK5 Hill PCP Pump:

Pump becomes stiff to operate:
Lubricate pump in accordance with lubrication procedure found in your manual.

At 50-80 bar the pump becomes difficult to pull upwards and springs back down:
Piston seal kit required. A MK5 quick service kit (Z5128-201) can be purchased from www.airriflepump.com

Gauge needle bouncing up/down and handle rises with force:
Non-Return valve problem. Service required. Contact for servicing via: sales@hillpumps.com

Gauge steadily losing pressure:
Bleed screw not tight enough. Hose connections to pump and/or rifle not tight enough, this includes any adaptors connected to the end of the hose.

Pump is very easy to operate / not making consistent pressure:
Check internal o-ring and change as required with quick service kit (Z5128-201) which can be purchased at www.airriflepump.com.

No pressure from pump at all - no reading on the gauge when connected to rifle:
This usually occurs when the pressure is below 50bar, this is rare to happen at higher pressures. Some Air Rifles with integral cylinder attached to the rifle requires cocking, by the lever, to stop any bleed from the trigger and then will seal the cylinder to be pumped.

Hose Positioning
Important that the bend radius is not less than 30mm i.e no sharp bends in the hose. This can cause a weakness if the hose is kept in a sharp angle.

Rifle to Hose Filling Probe
Most rifle manufacturers supply the fitting probe with your gun or rifle. This needs attaching directly to the end of the hose. The hose has a 1/8" BSP female swivel, which requires the filling probe to have a 1/8" BSP male with cone seat. This then needs attaching to the hose and with 2 spanners nip up tightly. This must be an air tight fit or leaks may occur.

EC-3000 / EVO

Frequently Asked Questions & Troubleshooting for the EC-3000 & EVO Compressors:

Why does the compressor not start when I press the button?
The compressor will only start above 5C. This is a safety feature to stop the compressor becoming damaged in use.

Do I need an additional filter to fill my gun?

The on board water separator on the EC-3000/EVO removes the majority of water and for filling guns only will be adequate for most users. We do now offer the Dry-Pac Pro Air Dryer Filter which offers additional moisture removal for heavy users of large cylinders/bottles/tanks and in particular we would recommend for people filling steel tanks/bottles.

What temperature does the compressor stop filling at?
The compressor operates between 5C and 75C. Above 75C when in use the compressor will pause and begin a cooling cycle.

Why does the running hours on the compressor not match the time I have had the compressor on?
The running hours displayed on the compressor is the total time that the motor has been running.

Can I fill a large cylinder?
The EC-3000 can fill large cylinders. When filling large cylinders the compressor will go through several cooling cycles. It is important that large cylinders should only be filled by competent and qualified people. It is also important to remember that this compressor was designed from the ground up for filling guns directly and is very fast at filling them, so you should also be asking do I need to be filling cylinders?

Can I run the compressor on a 12 volt power supply?
The compressor cannot be powered by a 12 volt power supply.

When do I need to change the oil?
The crank oil should be changed every 50 hours or once a year, whichever comes first. The silicone oil should be topped up to the blue line before use. Oil refills can be bought from www.airriflepump.com.

Is it possible to buy replacement parts?
Yes. The compressor is designed and manufactured in Sheffield, UK. Replacement parts are readily available.

How heavy is the compressor?
The compressor weighs around 25kg.

What size is the compressor?
Length: 465mm (18.3")
Height: 385mm (15.16")
Width: 235mm (9.25")

How loud is the compressor?
It is approximately 75dB during operation.

Can I change the quick release on the pressure hose?
Yes. The pressure hose has a 1/8" BSP female fitting on the end.

No pressure from compressor at all - no reading on the gauge when connected to rifle:
This usually occurs when the pressure is below 50bar, this is rare to happen at higher pressures. Some Air Rifles with integral cylinder attached to the rifle requires cocking, by the lever, to stop any bleed from the trigger and then will seal the cylinder to be pumped.
