Air rifle pumps' company history
Manufacturers for over 160 Years
Ernest H. Hill Ltd was established as an engineering and
manufacturing business in 1841. Founded and still based in Sheffield,
England, a name synonymous with fine quality and sound engineering practice,
Hill have been involved in the innovation, design and manufacture of
pumping equipment for the last 168 years. Ernest Hill spent much of
his time on the study of non ferrous metallurgy and subsequently became
an Associate Metallurgist of Sheffield University. His legacy and dedication
is continued by the management team of today.
Over the years Hill has produced a wide variety of products as diverse
as football inflators; hose clips; horticultural sprayers and equipment;
syringes; all manner of veterinary products and fire fighting equipment.
Amongst the early products, under the long established trademark Nesthill,
was an air compressor pump designed for a veterinary surgeon John Boyd
Dunlop which was developed to inflate the prototype pneumatic tyre he
had invented for his bicycle. Those three stage compressor hand pumps
are some of the forerunners of the modern Air Rifle Pump now offered
by Hill.
A quality pump with a quality pedigree.
